At Grayson County Health Department, we provide comprehensive health services to meet all your needs. From clinic services and nutrition counseling to cancer screening and STD testing and treatment, as well as various family planning services, our medical professionals are here to give you the best care possible.

Women, Infants, and Children

​

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a service made available to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, as well as infants and children up to age 5 who are found to be at nutritional risk.

WIC provides supplemental foods, healthcare referrals, and nutrition information for those who qualify. The Grayson County Health Center coordinates WIC services. Eligibility is based on income, household size, and nutritional needs. Family Planning

​

The Grayson County Health Center provides anonymous and confidential family planning education and assistance to women of all ages. Family planning helps ensure that children are wanted, among many other benefits.

  • The health center offers a variety of medical services including:

  • Physical exams to help determine the best birth control method

  • Multiple birth control options

  • Pregnancy testing

  • Counseling

  • Emergency contraception

Cancer Screenings

​

Kentucky has one of the highest cancer death rates in the country. We know early detection is critical to improving survival rates and it is therefore especially important to remain up-to-date on all yearly exams.

The Grayson County Health Center offers free or low-cost well-women exams that include breast exams and pap tests in addition to mammogram referrals for women age 40 and older who qualify.

Tuberculosis (TB) Program​

Tuberculosis Screening and Investigation

Tuberculosis is an airborne, bacterial disease that most often affects the lungs. However, it also can cause damage to the kidneys, spine and brain. It can be fatal if not treated properly. The Grayson County Health Center offers tuberculosis testing and preventative medicine and treatment.​

Immunizations

​

Immunizations have all but eradicated many diseases that in the past were very serious and deadly. They are essential to the health and welfare of our communities and our nation.

The Grayson County Health Center offers childhood immunizations, school shots and seasonal vaccines for those who qualify.

Communicable Disease Investigation

​

The Grayson County Health Center provides investigation of communicable disease in the community to prevent its spread to others. The center also is a source of information on communicable disease prevention.

STD Infection Testing and Treatment

Professional, Comprehensive, Confidential, Affordable
The Health Department provides testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections.  All services are confidential. Same-day appointments may be available.

Testing is available for common sexually transmitted infections, including:

  • Chlamydia

  • Gonorrhea

  • Hepatitis C

  • HIV

  • Syphilis

  • Herpes

What to expect at the appointment:

  • A nurse will take your medical history to determine your risk of infection.

  • Depending on your results, treatment may be needed. This can often be provided at the health department.

  • If necessary, staff can help you notify your partners.
